Don Wallace

WALLACE, Donald 'Don' Edward - Passed away peacefully, with his daughter by his side, at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday January 14, 2025 at the age of 82. Cherished father of Doni-Lyn Wallace (Geoff Cowley), Randy (Sarah) Wallace and loving grandfather of Makayla Wallace, Nathan Wallace. He will be fondly remembered by his sister Barbara (Winston) James, nephews Carey, John Mark, Andrew, as well as Patricia Nelson and family. Don, or 'Doonsby' as he was affectionately known, was a retiree 'Postie' with Canada Post and was a proud Union Representative. Following his retirement from Canada Post, Don continued his education and worked at the David S. Horne Supportive Reintegration Housing Residence in Pelham. He was very active in his community, assisting to bring Big Brothers program to the area, volunteering with United Way and was a member at St. Andrew's Church. He was an active member of the Niagara Falls Lions Club, a Past President, Co-Chaired the development of Lions Park and was a Co-Chair of the Euchre Club. Don will be remembered for his love of sweets, his support of the Buffalo Bills, Toronto Blue Jays, scorekeeping for the Niagara Falls Canucks - but most of all, his smile, laughter and sense of humour. The family wishes to acknowledge the care and empathy shown to Don by the staff of River Road Retirement Residence during his stay there. Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to join the family at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls, visiting Friday January 24, 2024 from 2 to 4 pm. A Funeral Service in celebration of his life will be held at 4 pm at the funeral home. In honour of Don's love of bright colours, the family welcomes guests to wear cheerful clothing to the visitation and Funeral Service.
