Donald Verner Berggren

After a brief illness and hospital stay, passed away at Greater Niagara General Hospital on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in his 82nd year. Loving husband of the late Anne Berggren (nee Glaves – 1999). Survived by his children Margie Berggren, Katy Berggren, Norma Ruttan (Scott), and David Berggren (Laura). Beloved grandfather of Jeff, Sydney, & Rowan. Dear partner of Bet Curry (children Pat, Peter and Ian, and families). Survived by his sister-in-law Joan, predeceased by his brother Lorne. Fondly remembered by his many nieces & nephews. Born and raised in Pembroke, Ontario and moved to Niagara Falls and attended NFCVI, and 39 year Ontario Hydro employee. An avid fly fisherman, hunter and world traveler in his retirement.

Family & friends will be received for a memorial visitation at Hetherington & Deans Funeral Chapel, 5176 Victoria Avenue on Thursday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 PM. A Memorial service will be held at St. Andrews United Church, 5645 Morrison Street, on Friday, March 4, 2016 at 11 AM. The family would like to thank all involved in his care in his last days, and ask that donations be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, ALS Society, GNGH, or to a Palliative Care related charity of your choice.
