

Peacefully passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late George. Loving mother of 4 beautiful daughters; Sue Head (Brenda McFarlane), Elizabeth (John) McClumpha, Mary (Gordon) Joudrey, and the late Carol Mary Head. Survived by her 4 awesome grandchildren; Jamie (Ron) Warren, Dylan, Ashley, and Brandon Joudrey. Great-grandmother of Mason and Violet Warren.
Doreen was born in Attercliffe, Ontario. She moved to Niagara Falls when she was 8 years old and attended both Simcoe Street Public School and NFCVI. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1943 as a Teleprinter. She did Basic Training in Ottawa and was eventually posted to Halifax, NS until November 1945. Doreen was a Veteran having served with the RCAF in WWII. Following the war, she worked with Bell Telephone. She married George, the best guy in the world on August 6, 1949. Doreen joined the Royal Canadian Legion in 1980, working on entertainment, membership and became President in 1995. She was the past President of the RCL, Branch 51 and current member of Branch 479, a member of the BCVA, a member of the RCAF Association, a member of CWAC – Tri Service Gals, and a member of the Central Vets where she worked annually with the City of Niagara Falls in preparation for the Remembrance Day Services. Doreen was also a Brownie Leader and a Girl Guide Commissioner for many years. She also volunteered with Red Cross and Meals on Wheels and was a long time member of Christ Church.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Christ Church, 4750 Zimmerman Ave. (905-358-9712) at 11 a.m. Family and friends are invited to call from 10 a.m. until service time. Cremation has taken place. Interment will follow the service at Lundy’s Lane Cemetery.
