MAIURI, Jason 'Jay' John - Our beloved son, brother and uncle passed away at Welland County General Hospital on Sunday March 3, 2024 at the age of 42. He will be greatly missed by his parents John and Patricia (nee Keeley), sister Erica and nephew Hunter. Jason fought a long, hard battle with kidney disease. His doctor, Dr. Azim Ganji and his assistant Cindy, helped him immensely through the past 20 years and became family to Jason. We are forever grateful for their dedication to Jason, which allowed him more time with his family and friends. He had many wonderful nurses at the dialysis clinic, home dialysis and home wound care. We would like to greatly thank Peggi Garner, Wendy Funk and Brittanie Cupolo, who went above and beyond providing Jason exceptional care. Jason was involved in many organizations over the years. He worked in the music industry doing lighting and sound. He was part of the Scuba Diving Club, Cigar Club and Magic Society, among many other organizations. He was an excellent drummer until kidney disease prevented him from playing. His drums will live on through his nephew - and will continue to drive his beloved sister nuts. It is evident from the condolences we have already received that Jason was able to help and touch so many lives around him, despite going through extreme hardship. It wasn't uncommon for Jason to become friends with patients from the hospital and continue those friendships when they were released. Jason was the definition of a fighter! He was a true hero for so many of us. He taught us valuable life lessons. Jason had a sense of humour like no other, and those hilarious memories will live on. If you know someone battling illness, please check on them, because a simple message can lift their spirits. Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life for May 26, 2024 (Details to be announced). Arrangements entrusted to the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St. Niagara Falls. In memory of Jason, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph's Healthcare Foundation (The Research Institute), and would be appreciated. We encourage you to please become an organ donor, as organ donation saved Jason's life twice. Online condolences at pattersonfuneralhome.com
