Dear Margaret & HEather and families:  Rory & I are very sorry to learn of the passing of your dear mother.  We remember her so well growing up in Haileybury.  Lots of happy times in the north.  She is now reunited with her beloved husband and they are singing in a church choir for sure.  May she rest in peace.

My best school chum's house was like a second home, and Marion, always welcoming and kind, like a second mother.  Marion's endearing "Howdy Joody" greeting always sparked a chuckle.    
Calm and quiet spoken, Marion had a pleasant way of talking with people.  One was always welcomed with a smile, a pleasant laugh, and an encouraging word.  Her love and pride of her husband,  of her children and of her grandchildren was evident in everything she said and did.  
The Rodger's home was the best place to visit.  With a playhouse in the yard, there was always fun to be had and a place for the imagination.  It was a fascinating place--rabbit hutches and pigeon coops: --raspberries that grew 10 feet tall;--new seedlings on the porch as the winter's snow melted.
So many fond memories--tobogganing down the slopes of Clover Valley; --singing in Sunday School; --submerging our hands into peeled grapes at the CGIT Halloween Party.  
Thank You Marion, Margaret, Heather and Jimmy for enriching my childhood, for creating memories that etched joy into my life.  For showing  me a better way to be. 
Congratulations Marion for 102.5 years of a life well lived.  May you continue to find joy and give joy in your life hereafter.

Across the miles in Scotland - but you're never far from our thoughts. This wonderful,unique friendship, started between our parents and yours, is now in the hands of our generation.
