Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' McDowell

McDOWELL, Mary Elizabeth 'Betty' - Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at Queenston Place Retirement Residence on Sunday June 12, 2016 at the age of 89.  Beloved wife of the late Robert for 55 years.  Dearly loved mother of Donna (Graham) Skells, Linda McDowell, Sandra (Norm) McDowell and David (Shelley) McDowell.  Cherished grandmother of Caitlin, Jamie, Riley, Meredith, Michael, Jason and Ryan.  Dear sister-in-law of Jean Brand (Vancouver, B.C), Donna McDowell (Windsor) and Joan Hunter.  Predeceased by her brother Kenneth Hunter.  She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.  Betty was born and raised in Niagara Falls, graduating from Hamilton General School of Nursing in 1948.  She was an avid reader, knitter, baker, seamstress and an awesome mother to her four kids.  Cremation has taken place.  At Betty's request, a private family memorial service will take place at a later date.
