Mary Dorothy Wood, lovingly known as Dorothy [Dot], passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital in Niagara Falls on January 16th, 2026, at 6:15 p.m. She was predeceased by her husband, Colin Wood.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Tammy Bensch; her grandchildren, Colin Bensch (Kristine) and Maygan Bensch; and her great-grandchildren, Amelia, Theo, Levi, and Wesley, who will dearly miss their sweet, sweet grandma. She is also survived by her sister, Edna MacDonald.
Dorothy was a true firecracker—spunky, warm, and full of laughter. She cherished her longtime friends and the close friendships at her apartment, where daily visits brought her great joy. Her playful spirit and loving heart left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
The family extends sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses, and PSWs at Greater Niagara General Hospital for their compassionate care.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, there will be no formal service. Cremation has been entrusted to Patterson’s Funeral Home, Niagara Falls. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
