

SCHWARTZ, Paul James - It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, but also with pride and an air of celebration for a happy life well-lived, that we announce the passing of Paul at the age of 94 on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at the Greater Niagara General Hospital. Paul is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 70 years, Mary (Breitenbach) Schwartz and his two loving daughters whom he cherished, Diane (George) Schneider and Sandra (David) Mason. Paul was an extremely proud and loving 'Grandpa' to Mark Schneider, Jordan Mason and Kylie Mason. Paul was the only child of Paul Sr. and Rosalia Schwartz. Born in Ridica, Yugoslavia, on March 12, 1921, Paul emigrated to Canada with his parents at the age of 8 and settled in London, Ontario for his adolescence, later moving to Kitchener, Ontario where he met the love of his life, Mary. They were married on June 30, 1945, and eventually settled in Niagara Falls in 1953. Along with Mary, and his in-laws Steve & Kristina Breitenbach, Paul owned and operated the A-1 Motel on Lundy's Lane for 30 years. He was also a long-time member of the Niagara German- Canadian Club. Paul will be remembered for his welcoming spirit, genuine smile, appreciation and sincere love of people, his passion for music, dancing and for everything that life had to offer him. Above all, he treasured his family and close friends. Friends are invited to call at the PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME, 6062 Main St., Niagara Falls, ON, visiting Wednesday, June 17th from 2-4 pm. and 7-9 p.m. Vigil prayers will be celebrated at 3:30 p.m. A Funeral Mass in celebration of Paul's life will be held on Thursday, June 18th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Scapular Church. The Rite of Committal will follow at Lundy`s Lane Cemetery. In memory of Paul, donations to the hospital ONE Foundation or Our Lady of the Scapular Church would be appreciated by his family.
