WILKIE, Robert - Passed away peacefully at the Bella Senior Care Residence on Thursday May 30, 2013 at the age of 82. Cherished husband of Margaret Wilkie (nee Hook). Loving father of Richard (Maureen) Wilkie of Milwaukee Wisconsin. Beloved grandfather of Grant and Grace Wilkie. Dear brother of George Wilkie of Cambridge, England. Born August 22, 1931 in Edinburgh, Scotland, Robert and Margaret were married on September 11, 1953 and immigrated with their family to Canada in 1967. A book publisher by trade, Robert excelled as a marathon runner, finishing the Boston Marathon at 3:07:56 in 1981 and achieving his all-time goal of breaking the 3-hour mark in Toronto on October 4, 1981 with a time of 2:59:36. A dedicated husband and father, Robert will be admirably remembered as a world traveler, with integrity to consistently do the right and honorable thing whilst acting always on his owns terms. Cremation has taken place and a private interment will take place at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to PATTERSON FUNERAL HOME.
