It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vivian Brown at Eventide Home in Niagara Falls on May 1, 2022 at the age of 95 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Predeceased by her beloved and adored husband Duncan (1979). Sadly missed by her sister Ivy Dodman (the late Bill) and by her children Guy (Kim) Brown, Barbara (Terry) Heffler, Duncan (Pat) Brown, Carol (Tracey) Brown, & Mark (Cassie) Brown, and her grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Vivian was predeceased by her parents Willard and Hazel Adams and her brothers Lorne (Frances) Adams and Byron (Dorothy) Adams.
Vivian was born on September 29, 1926 in Niagara Falls but moved to London, Halifax, Richmond Hill and Unionville as Duncan climbed the corporate ladder to VP of Peek Frean. She also found the time to volunteer many hours at a residential home for those with both mental and physical challenges. After Duncan died in 1979, she moved back to Niagara Falls to be close to her family.
She loved to laugh and was friendly, feisty, generous, supportive, kind and encouraging to others. When she decided to go to work she managed the Lundy House, worked at the Bay and then at the gift shop at the Casino. She loved all her jobs and was the ideal employee.
Family was everything to her, and in her later years she especially enjoyed travelling with her daughters to Mexico. Her fur babies, Cody, Bella and Max were very special to her. She loved Christmas time and started decorating each room in the house with Christmas decorations right after Halloween. She loved it when strangers knocked on the door and asked if they could have a tour! She was also an avid reader who enjoyed gardening, swimming in the backyard pool, needlecrafts and anything to do with the royal family.
Throughout Vivian’s years of living with Alzheimer's she received high quality care from the staff at Eventide. A special thank-you to Major Renee and the staff as well as Sue
(her PSW) for their care and compassion. This special care made a difference to Vivian and certainly to her family.
A private family service and interment has taken place.
Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Eventide Family Council would be appreciated (niagaraeventide.ca).
