

She was born on February 15, 1916, in Providence, RI, the daughter of Charles R. Brown and Rdell Scriver Brown.
She graduated from Wheeler High School in 1934 and Willimantic Teacher's College in 1938.
She married the late Francis York on July 5, 1941.
Mrs. York was a school teacher for many years in Westbrook and New London. She attended Flanders Baptist Church and was a member of the Jr. Circle Group. She was also a member of the New London Maritime Service, Conn. and National Education Assoc., the Chesterfield Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary, the Lyme and Salem Grange.
She is survived by her son Bruce F. York of Norwich; her daughter Sharon Fensky and Peggyann York of East Lyme; her sister Mildred B. O'Neil of FL; her grandchildren Todd and Duane Matthewson and Chris and Bethany York; her great grandchildren Jason, Shannon, Antony, Francesca, Dianemarie and Romaro; great great grandchildren Aidan and Caleb; her nieces Charlotte, Kathy, and Lorain O'Neil; Ardell, Celeste and Rhonda Patnoe; her nephews George York and Eugene Murray. In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sister Charlotte Patnoe.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 12pm at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Ave., Niantic. Burial will follow in East Lyme Cemetery. Calling hours will be held for two hours prior to the service from 10am-12pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
