

Born in 1931 in Chicopee, MA, son of Francis Gorham of Round Pond, Maine and Cecelia Buckley Gorham of Boston, MA, Mr. Gorham was an attorney for Murphy & Beane, Attorneys at Law in Boston and New London. “Skip”, as he was know by his family, was a high school track star, a graduate of Bowdoin College and a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Marine Corps. Upon completion of his service, he attained his JD from Boston College. In 1959 he was married to Marcia Ruus, and in the early 1960’s they moved their burgeoning family to Scituate, MA. In 1976 Mr. Gorham opened the New London office of Murphy & Beane, and began his residence in Old Lyme where the family lived for over 30 years. Skip had been an active member in the local chapter of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, fulfilling many roles, including president. He was an avid fan of the UConn Huskies and all the Boston sports teams. He was quite pleased to have seen all of them win championships in the past few years. He was predeceased by Marcia in July, 2007, and is survived by his three sons Francis III “Chip” of NY, Stephen Gorham of Niantic, and Kevin Gorham of MA, his two daughters Catherine Gorham of RI and Darcy Chmielewski of Old Lyme, and seven grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at 10:00am in St. Joseph Church in New London. Interment will follow in Duck River Cemetery in Old Lyme.
