

Marilyn Blackburn Gordon, passed away on October 24th, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born October 26, 1928 in Norwich, CT, the daughter of the late Harry K. and Agnes (Dilworth) Blackburn. Marilyn was predeceased by her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles L. Gordon. Marilyn and Charles were joined in marriage September 20th, 1947, at Greenville Congregational Church in Norwich.
She is survived by her daughters, Paula G. Fee (David Aiken), of Colchester, CT, and Charlene G. Reagan (Steven) of Binghamton, NY, and her son, CDR Scott S. Gordon, USN (ret.) (Lisa), Chesapeake, VA. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Raymond Gordon (Sandy) of Enfield, CT. She is survived by her grandchildren, Elisa Reagan Dorsh (Kevin), Colorado Springs, CO.; Alan M. Reagan (Emily), NY, NY; Sherri G. Tumosa (Cory), Enfield, CT; Laura F. Digilio (Michael), Mystic, CT; Brian R. Gordon (Chelsea), Vernon, CT; Gage Q. Gordon, and Sadie L. Gordon, Chesapeake, VA. She is survived by 7 great grandchildren.
Marilyn worked as a medical assistant for 23 years working first for Dr. Harold Dunnebier, Niantic, and then Drs. Karl Friedman and Jay Graves, Old Lyme, CT.
She was past president of ELHS PTA with Charles, a Sunday school teacher and treasurer of the Community Circle at Flanders Baptist & Community Church, and a member of Naval Academy Parents Club. She was active in the American Field Service. She was the Worthy Matron of Nehantic Chapter of the OES with her husband, Charles, who served as Worthy Patron. She was a 50+ year member of OES. Marilyn was active in the New London Assembly #18 Order of the Rainbow Girls. She was very active in the New London Medical Assistants association while she worked in Old Lyme. Marilyn was a volunteer at the front desk at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital for several years after she retired.
People will remember her for her kindness and generosity, service to others, love of travel and shopping, her passionate love of her family and pride in the accomplishments of her children and grand children. Marilyn was always welcoming friends of her children as a surrogate mom.
Special thanks to her wonderful caregivers, Diane, Barbara, Karen, Alicia, and Hillary who assisted her these last 6 months and made day-to-day life easier for her.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, from 4-7p.m, at Fulton-Theroux Funeral Home, 13 Lake Avenue, Niantic, CT. Funeral will take place on Thursday, October 29th, at 11:00 a.m. at Flanders Baptist & Community Church, 162 Boston Post Road, East Lyme, CT 06333.
