It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Anita Grace Marie Broussard, who left us peacefully in her sleep at the age of 45 on Sunday, April 27, 2025. Anita was preceded in death by her father, Ronald G. Broussard, Sr. She is survived by her mother, Stephanie Broussard of Lynnwood, WA; her brother, Ronald Broussard, Jr. of St. Rose, LA; her sister, Jessie Broussard (David Gilmore) of Atlanta, GA; her sister, Cate Broussard (Mattias Ortman), and nieces Mia Broussard and Vera Broussard of Stockholm, Sweden; as well as her longtime “other mother,” Lynn Tinto of New Orleans. Anita will be greatly missed by her many cousins, aunts, uncles, and her wide circle of friends and colleagues.
A longtime New Orleans-area local, Anita was an alumna of Sarah T. Reed High School, Delgado Community College, and the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now UL Lafayette). Dedicated to serving her community, Anita was known by friends and family for her boundless kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. A hard worker throughout her life, she was most recently proud to have moved into a management role with a national retailer.
Anita devoted her life to caring for others—whether family, friends, or the many beloved rescue dogs she welcomed into her home over the years. Her love knew no limits; she gave freely and unconditionally to anyone in need of comfort, support, or simply a listening ear. She loved dancing to Shania Twain songs, singing musical show tunes with her nieces, and was an avid photographer. Anita dreamed of owning a ranch where she could provide a loving and supportive environment for children and adults in need of respite.
Anita was always ready to play with the children and loved ones in her life. In recent years, she created many joyful memories in City Park and at the Louisiana Children’s Museum—places that reflected her whimsical spirit and passion for the community.
Anita’s legacy of compassion, warmth, and generosity will live on in all who knew and loved her. Her presence made the world kinder, lighter, and more loving—and she will be deeply missed.
A celebration of Anita’s life will be held on Saturday, May 24, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Louisiana Children’s Museum in City Park, in the Kevin Scott Room. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Louisiana Children’s Museum or Friends of City Park—organizations close to Anita’s heart.
