Floyd Joseph Friloux, Sr.

He ended his journey lovingly surrounded by his family, Jill Campo, "Rock" Hymel, Deborah Weber, and Maida Brown. Born on September 26, 1930, to Leon Paul “Bud” and Delores Zeringue Friloux, Floyd was a man defined by faith, duty, and unwavering devotion to his family. A graduate of St. Charles Borromeo Elementary and Destrehan High School Class of 1947. He honorably served his country in the United States Army in France with the 28th General Hospital. Upon returning home, he began a short employment at Norco Gas and Fuel, followed by 38 years as a lab technician at Shell, retiring in 1991. He helped establish the East St. Charles Volunteer Fire Dept as both a fireman and performing the duties of treasurer of the organization. He also established Floyd Friloux Real Estate in New Sarpy, LA. He generously created many chalices and other religious ceramics that he respectfully shared with the community. He also established an Army reunion group, bringing together all who served with the 28th General Army.

Floyd was a devout parishioner of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and an active member of the Red Church Council 3634, American Legion Post 366 and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Archbishop Blenk Assembly. He will be remembered for his cheerful "Happy Monday" greetings and his steadfast faith, often saying "Lord willing." He performed with the church choir. He proudly participated at the Lenten Fish Fry and Bingo nights at the KC hall in Norco.

He was the beloved husband of the late Elva Hymel Friloux, the late Jennie Troxclair Friloux, and the late Audrey Guidry Miranda Friloux.

Floyd is survived by his devoted son, Floyd J. Friloux, Jr. and his wife, Anne; his granddaughter, Evonne Friloux Nesbit (Chris); his great-grandchildren, Emilie Lucas (David), Christopher Nesbit, Jr., and Nathan Nesbit; and his great-great-grandson, David J. Lucas, Jr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his "Brides"; his infant daughter, Mary Ann Friloux; and his sister, Jeanette Friloux Keller (Don).

Family and friends are invited to attend the services at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Rd, Destrehan, LA, on Wednesday, July 2, 2025. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
