

A native of Lutcher and a longtime resident of Destrehan, he was a former plant manager at Bunge Corporation, retiring in 1994. Freddie was an avid sports fan, who loved to play golf, root for the Pelicans, Saints, and LSU, and supported the Destrehan High School baseball team for decades. He was the Wildcats’ press box announcer for many years. A man much loved by generations of DHS players, coaches, parents, and fans, he will be missed.
He is survived by his children, Hank (Bridget) St. Pierre of Destrehan and Patti (Rod) Bailey of Destrehan; grandchildren, Jared (Kristen) St. Pierre, Jeramie St. Pierre, Justin (Lacey) St. Pierre, Jolie (Tyler) Hyde, Lori (Nick) Graff, Larry (Natalie) Matherne, Lynn (Victoria) Matherne, and Kyle (Natasha) Bailey. Son-in-law Larry Joe Matherne; great-grandchildren, Channing, Nolan, Nash, Rafe, Mary Tebbe, Nicholas, K.J., Landon, Landrie, Gabe, L.J., Bryson, Bella, Brock, Korbin, and Truett; siblings, Ina Mae Veron, Lorraine Matherne, Glynn St. Pierre, and George St. Pierre.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Iola Orgeron St. Pierre; his parents Louis Chanel St. Pierre and Hermina Louque St. Pierre; siblings, Louis “Dick” St. Pierre, Jr., Jessie St. Pierre, Manuel “Black” St. Pierre, Sr., Harry “Blue” St. Pierre, Sr., Thomas "John" St. Pierre, Marguerite St. Pierre Brown, Warren “Shek” St. Pierre, Bridget St. Pierre Martin, and Ida Louise St. Pierre Roddy.
A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at 2PM at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Charles Borromeo Catholic church are preferred.
