

Joseph Donald Schoen passed away on April 2nd. He was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1939 and spent most of his youth in Connecticut. He graduated from Meriden High School and the University of Connecticut. He would go on to marry his High School sweetheart Rosemary McNulty 66 years ago. He leaves behind 2 sons, Lee Schoen of Baton Rouge, LA and Harold Schoen (Donna) of Tampa, FL, 2 grandchildren, Nicole Schoen of Tampa, FL and Jacob Schoen (Devin) and great grandson Ellias of Lakeland, FL. Joe also leaves his sister, Barbara Arens-Werle, Vero Beach, FL and sister and brother-in-law, Joanne and Ken Uliasz of Glastonbury, CT along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Mae Schoen and his sister Margaret Morrow.
His family lived many years in upper New York state where Joe was quite active in Jaycees and was a New York State Jaycee senator. He also served as president of the Auburn, NY school board. He moved to Louisiana 47 years ago and embraced the southern attitude. He worked as a contractor, traveling the US and the Caribbean. Joe loved to fish and was an ardent fan of the Pelicans and the Saints, being a season ticket holder for many years. Joe was quite a storyteller and loved to meet new people. He will be missed by many. Private services will be held at a later date.
