Linda Becnel Newsome, age 89 of LaPlace passed away at 12:20 pm on Monday, January 18, 2010 at the River Regions Hospital. She was a waitress at Roussell’s Restaurant and a caretaker to friends and relatives. She is survived by her sons; Dallas Newsome, Jr. (Dora Vicknair) and Joseph Miranda, Jr. (Sandra Tamburello). Two brothers; David Becnel (Rose) and Carl J. Andry (Dot Johnson). Two sisters; Anna Leverson (Don) and Agatha St. Germain (Leroy). Four Grandchildren; Joanne N. Gregory (Edwin), Melanie M. Martin (Matt), Lisa N. Broderson (Charlie) and Mary M. Dufrene (Craig) and nine great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Newsome, Sr. and parents; David Becnel and Macilia Cortez. Two sisters; Lena Garner and Genevieve Madere. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 21, 2010 from 9:30 am until 11:00 am at the H. C. Alexander Funeral Home in Norco. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am from the funeral home with Fr. Harry Bugler, celebrant. Burial will follow at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery in New Orleans.
