

Born May 10, 1933, in Buffalo, NY, to the late Daniel Yike and the late Louise Freiberger Yike. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sylvia Kay Mann Yike; sister, Margaret Householder; brothers, Dick Yike, Dan Yike and Jimmy Yike.
Survivors include his seven children: Robert Yike Jr, Patsy Yike, Fr. John Yike, Carolynne Elliott (Peter), Bill Yike (Lisa), Mary Yike and Margaret Monteith (Monty). Eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and his Sister-in-Law, Eveline Yike.
He served 2 years in the Army as PFC in the 101st Airborne. He attended the Georgia Institute of Technology. He opened Art Accents, a Ceramics business with his wife, Sylvia and sister, Margaret. In 1982 he and Sylvia moved to New Orleans, opening Studio 5 to create “woodgraphs” for Street Scenes Galleries in Riverwalk and Jax Brewery. Bob retired in 2014. He was a faithful member of Blessed Francis Seelos Catholic Church and was often seen giving rides to the older ladies of the church, affectionally known as “his girls”. Returning to Georgia in July 2020, he continued to attend weekly video meetings with the Legion of Mary and EWTN Mass became a daily ritual.
Bob’s Funeral Mass was held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Duluth, GA. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
A Memorial Mass for Bob will be celebrated at Blessed Francis Seelos Church, 3037 Dauphine St., New Orleans LA 70117 on Monday, Oct. 16, 2023. Visitation is from 9:30 to 11:00. With Mass at 11:00.
