Willard J. Bergeron, Sr., U. S. Army veteran of World War II, passed away on February 18, 2011, at the age of 92 years. Husband of Marie Champagne Bergeron, married for 68 years. Son of the late Edmond Bergeron and Annette Roger Bergeron. Father of Myra (Richard) Sharp, Patrick (Glenda) Bergeron, Willard (Terry) Bergeron, Jr., Renee (Larry) Sesser, Timothy (Debbie) Bergeron, Gregory (Bebe) Bergeron, Philip (Marcia) Bergeron, Francis (Gail) Bergeron, Monica (Dennis) VanZandt, and Leonard (Angela) Bergeron. He had 25 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bergeron worked at Shell Oil Company in Norco and retired from USAMEX Fertilizer in St. Rose. He was also a self-employed carpenter and an avid fisherman who loved his family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 from 9:00 am until 11:45 am at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 noon with Fr. Harry Bugler officiant. Military honors will follow in the St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
