Augusta Cerny

Norfolk, Augusta D. Cerny 91, passed away July 15, 2009. Augusta, also know by “Gus”, is predeceased by her husband Rudolf Cerny, daughter Mildred Rice and great-grandson Christopher Williams. Survived by her two children daughter Jane C. Kauchak (Ted Barwinski), son Rudy Cerny (Diana), sisters Edna Newman and Elizabeth Powell, brother Frank Drewery, grandchildren Robbie Rice (Tracy), Amy Williams (Kenny), Tomora Woolard (DeWayne) and Kara Kauchak (Andrew Rhew) and 7 great-grandchildren.

Gus, born in Isle of Wright County, Virginia, was a member of Coleman Place Presbyterian Church in Norfolk. For many years she also participated in the Senior Citizen Christmas Shop. She blessed many friends and relatives with wonderful cooking, handmade crochet items and her wonderful stories and sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Herbert Brewer and his staff for their many years of dedicated care.

In honor of Augusta Cerny a visitation will be held on Friday from 6-8 at Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a service on Saturday at 1:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, 23502. Condolences may be offered to the family on-line at www.woodlawngroup.com.
