Born March 31, 1928, in Norfolk, Va., Betty lived in Temecula Ca. for the last four years. She was a high school graduate in 1947 from Matthew Fontaine Maury in Norfolk. Betty was passionate about and enjoyed a life long love affair growing orchids, gardening, traveling, playing bridge, cooking. Always giving and responsible, Betty at age of 7 began raising her 3 brothers and sisters, at 21 her 5 children and in her latter years some of her grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin Smith, in 2005 and her daughter Donna Delucca, in 2004.
Betty is survived by her sons Edward Smith of Rancho Santa Fe, California, Kenneth Smith of Temecula California, Nita Smith of Temecula, California, and Debra Smith of North Carolina: 15 granchildren and four great-grandchildren, her sister Jackie Swoope of Norfolk and Charlie Holt of Maine.
A graveside service is planned in Norfolk, Va. at Forest Lawn Cemetery on July 25, 2007 at 11am..
We will miss her, she had a heart for many.
