Deborah Clark Awbrey

Norfolk – Deborah Clark Awbrey, 55, passed away March 3, 2022, at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Portsmouth, VA, she was a 1984 graduate of Norview High School where she played four years of varsity soccer. Deborah, a loving and devoted mother to her four children, was also a passionate friend. Deborah will be remembered for her ability to intentionally brighten someone’s day and go out of her way to be there for friends and family. Debs, as her friends called her, loved to volunteer her time to her local church and help those in need. Deborah will be deeply missed as her smile, laugh, and presence was unique to this world.

Deborah was preceded in death by her son, Charles Patrick Awbrey Jr and her father, Abie Duane Clark. She is survived by her loving partner George David Meade, mother Elizabeth Frishkorn Clark, daughters Sara Elizabeth Awbrey (Cody) and Melissa Lauryn Awbrey, sons Andrew Clark Awbrey and Cory David Meade, grandson Finley Adams Awbrey, brothers David Clark (Leslie) and Brian Clark, nieces Kaitlan Clark and Ella Clark, and nephews Nicholas Clark (Caroline), Stephen Clark (Samantha), Matthew Fillhart (Shaman), Brandon Clark, and Christian Purdue.

A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. March 7, 2022, at Norview United Methodist Church (NUMC), 1112 Norview Ave, Norfolk. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to NUMC or the American Cancer Society.
