

Doris “Pinky” Smith Edwards, 88, passed away on Tuesday in Chesapeake. She was a native of Victoria, VA to the late George Milton and Cora Shaw Smith. Doris was also predeceased by her husband, William S. Edwards, Sr., brother, Billy Shaw Smith; sisters, Estelle Shaw, Evelyn Wagstaff and daughter, Pamela Doddridge. A family oriented woman, she loved spending time with her grandchildren. In her spare time she loved fishing, camping, singing in the Norview UMC choir for close to 50 years and playing bridge with her friends. She is survived by her son, William Spencer Edwards, Jr. and wife, Teresa A. Edwards; daughter, Susan Hay and husband, Steven Hay, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She attended Longwood University and graduated from University of Virginia Medical School where she studied Lab Technology. She retired from Lab Corp and was a long-time member of Norview United Methodist Church. She was a chair member of the Ruth Reinfeld Sunday school class.
A visitation will be from 6-8pm at Smith and Williams Norview Chapel on Friday. A service will be conducted on Saturday morning at 10am at the Norview United Methodist Church to be officiated by Joe Shepherd. Burial will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk.
