

Doris Arrington Mitchell, born on October 24,1954, to the late Elijah Arrington and Lucille Arrington in Littleton, NC. Doris, affectionately known as Faye, started her life in Littleton, NC where she attended Mount Olive Baptist Church. She attended Everett Elementary School until she moved to Norfolk, VA with her family at age 8. She lived in Huntersville where she joined First Baptist Church Lamberts Point. After graduating from Granby High School in 1972, she started working at L'eggs Hosiery Company until the company relocated. She then worked for Dyna Logistics as a contractor for both the Norfolk and Portsmouth Naval Shipyards for 8 years.
On April 19, 1980, Doris was married to her loving husband, Kenneth Wayne Mitchell. From this union, she gave birth to two beautiful daughters, TeRae Lynette Mitchell and Teneise LaShea Mitchell Ellis. Doris began working for Home Quarters (HQ) Warehouse where she was promoted to Shipping and Receiving Manager. She was employed for 15 years until the company went out of business. Finally, she was employed by American Funds/Capital Group as a Senior Fulfillment Associate. She invested 20 years until she retired.
Whenever Faye indulged in some of her favorite activities, it usually involved caring for others, or watching the Philadelphia Eagles play. She loved shopping for her grandchildren and cooking for her family. She had a strong love for animals. She was artistic, and enjoyed painting and drawing for her loved ones. Doris opened her home to anyone in need, and was considered “Mama” to so many. Her love for home decor was a way to make everyone who visited feel comfortable and welcomed.
Doris is predeceased by her father, Elijah Arrington, her mother, Lucille Arrington, her brothers, Edward Arrington, Melvin Arrington & her sister Ruth Arrington Williams. She leaves behind her husband, Kenneth Wayne Mitchell, one brother, Rodney McKinley Arrington (Catherine), two daughters, TeRae Lynnette Mitchell, Teneise LaShea Mitchell Ellis (Hassan), three granddaughters, Arissa Jenae Mitchell, Jordan Elaine Ellis, and Naomi Desiree Ellis, her “proclaimed daughter” Stefanie Antoinette Brown Wright (Jason), one nephew, Stephen Wayne Williams, two nieces, TeLaza Shavon Arrington, Lisa Michelle Arrington Allen (Maximillian), her “angel”, Doris Ann Brown, and a host of other brothers and sisters in love, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
