

Edgar Lleno Olbes, a retired Master Chief Personnelman and resident of Bowie, Maryland, died on January 3, 2022 at the age 75. He was the son of Abundio Llolera Olbes and Socorro Lleno and was born in Daraga, Albay, Philippines on May 7. A graduate of Pio de Pilar High School in Makati, Edgar was recruited by the US Navy and heroically fought in the Vietnam War and Gulf War during his 30 years of service. He married Susana Barillo on September 4, 1976 in Jackson, MS. They raised 4 children in Virginia Beach, VA.
Edgar was involved in the community, coaching his children in various sports teams. He also loved fishing, and tended his vegetable garden.
He is survived by his wife, Susana; brothers Jesus Olbes and Alvin Olbes; sister Thelma Olbes; children Erik Olbes, Miguel Olbes, Samantha Olbes Laskowski, and Natasha Olbes; and grandchildren Zoie Olbes, Ean Olbes, Delaney Otis, Julie Emory, Jace Olbes Laskowski, Gemma Olbes Laskowski, Judah Olbes BenBenu, and Ayannah Olbes Benu.
The funeral mass and burial service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022. The funeral mass will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church located at 1396 Lynnhaven Pkwy, Virginia Beach, VA 23453.
The burial ceremony will be held at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502.
