She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Martin (Marty) Joseph Leonard Jr. ; a son, Marty Leonard; two daughters, Donna Leonard (Grosse) and Rebecca Tatem. She has 4 wonderful sisters in law, Rose Kelly; Annie Whiting (Charles); Kathy Chiarello (Tony); and Pat Gregory (Bob). She was predeceased by her brother John A. Hurstak. She also had numerous nieces and nephews, and her faithful black lab, Jill. She was a graduate of Boston City Hospital were she got her RN training. She then met Marty who was in the Navy. They fell in love and got married in 1948. The Navy brought them to Norfolk where they raised their family after Marty retired from the Navy and government. She loved the simple things in life. She was the happiest in her yard with her flowers, birds, squirrels, rabbits and her fish pond. They spent many years fishing on the Currituck Sound where she always caught the biggest bass. She was the best wife and Mom anybody could ask for and will be missed dearly. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sentara and the Hospice staff for their great care they gave to Eileen and for all of their support they gave to our family. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 23 from 6:00-9:00 pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 24 at 12:00 pm in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, Eileen would prefer a donation to the SPCA in her name.
