Elizabeth M. Dean

Virginia Beach- Elizabeth “Skeets” “Betsy” Dean, 94, went to be with the Lord on September 10, 2016. Born in Philadelphia, PA on February 8, 1922, she was the oldest of seven children, all of which proceeded her in death. Skeets was devoted to her younger siblings and promised her mother, Elizabeth Mulligan, to keep the family together from the young age of 12-a promise that she whole-heatedly kept. While a resident of Virginia Beach for the past 63 years, she worked as a waitress at Burroughs Restaurant for over 20 years and went on to work for Virginia Beach Public Schools for 10 years.

Betsy is predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Henry Dean; son, Bobby Dean and son-in-law, Dale Maciejewski. She is survived by her sons, Paul “Buddy” Dean (Sandra) and James Dean (Mary); daughter, Cathy Maciejewski; daughter-in-law, Gail Dean; grandchildren, Jonathan Dean, Bryan Dean, Jason Dean, Katherine Maciejewski and Joe Maciejewski and 6 great-grandsons.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14th from 12-2 PM and a service will begin at 2 PM in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. in Norfolk.
