He began his career in the New York area as a dancing waiter and then started a restaurant with his uncle in New Jersey. In 1978, he arrived in Virginia and opened the highly rated Captain John’s, still fondly remembered by those who ate there. . He subsequently owned Angelo’s, Pocahontas Pancake House, Emilio’s, and North End Pizza, all partnered with relatives and friends. Angelo lovingly served both tourists and locals for nearly four decades, and was consistently known as an employer who considered his workers to be family members; and he generously gave back to his community, continually feeding the homeless and working poor with the same love, attention, and respect he gave to his regular customers—to Angelo they were all children of our loving Savior Jesus Christ.
