

Virginia Beach ~ Forrest W. Miller, RMC, USN, born January 2, 1933, entered into eternal life, March 1, 2008, after a valiant eight and a half month battle with cancer. Mr. Miller was born in Jefferson City, Missouri, and was the son of the late Forrest Walter Miller and Dorothy Louise Williams. He joined the Navy at the age of 17, serving thirty years and fighting in the Korean War. He also retired from the civil service. He is survived by his wife of almost thirty-nine years, Shirley A. Miller of Va. Beach; two daughers, Nicole E. Dickerson and Gabrielle V. Miller of Va. Beach; a son, Patrick R. Miller of Chapel Hill, N.C.; son-in-law, Christopher D. Dickerson; granddaughter, Hannah Z. Dickerson; cousins, Betty Miller of Cuba, Mo. and Hansel Williams of Holts Summit, Mo.. He also leaves behind numerous friends and extended family around the country. Nothing can fill the void his passing leaves in our hearts. He will be dearly missed. A celebration of Forrest's life will be held 1:30 PM, Friday, March 7, 2008 at the graveside in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from noon until time of service on Friday in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Va. Beach Blvd. The family would like to thank the Oncology Ward of Charette Health Care Center in Portsmouth, particularly Dr. Reninger, Dr. Hopkins, Dr. Crook, Dr. Donovan and Nurse Fisher for their superb care of Mr. Miller. Thank you for your respect and loving devotion in his final days. Thank you for giving him another Christmas, another birthday, and letting him see and know his first grandchild.
