Born on June 2,1940 in Acomita, New Mexico, she was a proud member of the Acoma Pueblo Indian tribe and carried her heritage with grace, strength, and deep pride throughout her life.
Jean grew up in Acomita before moving to San Francisco in the 1960s, where she met the love of her life, Jovito "DJ" DeJesus. They were married in 1965 in her hometown of Acomita and went on to share 50 beautiful years of marriage together. Their journey took them to Baltimore, Maryland, and eventually to Virginia Beach, Virginia, where they built a loving home and life for their family.
She dedicated many years to the insurance industry before retiring, but her true joy came from her family, her faith, and the simple beauty of everyday life. Jean was loyal, loving, and deeply devoted to those she cared for. Her faith was the center of her world, and she cherished attending Mass at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
She is survived by her children, Christina (Michael) Bond and Chad (Caroline) DeJesus; her grandchildren Tabitha Bond, Dakota Bond, Taylor DeJesus, and Isabella DeJesus; and her great-grandchildren James Bond and Maxwell Bond. She is also remembered with great love by her extended family and countless friends whose lives she touched with her kindness and warmth.
Jean loved gardening, tending to her beautiful home, socializing with friends and family, and celebrating the arts. She had a special passion for the Catholic missions of California and took great joy in visiting each one. She adored the San Francisco Opera and Ballet and especially loved Jazz music. She delighted in good food, good conversation, and the laughter that filled every room she entered.
She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her compassion, her strength, her loving heart, and the light she brought to every person she encountered. Jean had a beautiful spirit and an incredible ability to make others feel cherished.
A viewing will be held on January 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Matthew Catholic Church.
Her legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to live on forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
