George W. Boyd, age 87, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline and a brother, John. He was a member of the Tidewater Live Steamers Train Club, the DAV Association and the Corinthian Masonic Lodge No. 266. He was retired from the U. S. Navy after serving 23 years and a survivor of D-Day at Omaha Beach and a retiree of the U. S. Postal Service. Surviving are two sons, David G. Boyd(Joan) of Traverse City, Michigan; Dennis W. Boyd(Sherry) of Chesapeake; one daughter, Barbara Monell(Bill) of Norfolk; one brother and seven sisters; six grandchildren and one great grandson. The family will receive friends 12 Noon Thursday, September 29,2011 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk and where funeral services will be conduct at 1 PM.
