George Garland Smith

Virginia Beach - George Garland Smith Jr. 86 died March 9, 2008 at his home. He was born in Norfolk, VA on August 26, 1921, the son of the late George G. and Dorothy S. Smith. He served his country proudly as a member of The US Army during World War II. He retired as an Industrial Engineering Technician from Norfolk Naval Shipyard after 35 years of faithful service. George was a member of the Atlantic Lodge #2 Masonic Lodge, Masonic Temple Member -Kadive Temple, a member of the VA Beach Shrine Club, a 1st Lt. of the Arab Patrol Marching Unit. George was predeceased by his Loving Wife of 58 years Jane P. Smith. He is survived by his two daughters; Dorothy A. Bradshaw and her husband Ric of West Palm Beach, FL. and Linda S. Kane and her husband Mike of Hertford, NC. seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and a sister Dorothy J. Ripley and her husband Robert F. of Chesapeake. A funeral service will be held on Friday March 14, 2008 at 11:00AM in the chapel at Woodlawn Funeral Home 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk, VA 23502 with the Rev. Richard A. Laslo officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Thursday March 13, 2008 from 6-8:00 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 950 W.
