George R. Vinson,

Hertford, NC – George R. Vinson, Jr., 67, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, February 19, 2015. He passed at his home in Hertford, NC where he lived with his fiancé Marichu and his beloved dog, Sam. He was a devoted member of New Hope United Methodist Church where he served as Trustee Chairman. He took great pride in serving the community through his work at New Hope Food Bank and as a member of the local Ruritan Club.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Kate and George Vinson, his wife Sue Vinson and grandson Blaine Humphrey.

George grew up in Virginia Beach, VA and spent 35 dedicated years working at Eck Supply Company where he built lasting friendships with people he admired. He was an avid lover of the outdoors, high performance cars and American history. His time here was too short and he will be missed by many.

He is survived by his children Troy and Staci Vinson, daughters-in-law Beth and Robyn, step-daughters Cindy Al-Murshidi and Robin Humphrey; also grandchildren Brittany, Amy, Emily, Zayne and Layla.

The funeral service will be Monday, February 23, 2015 at 1pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502. The visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-6pm at the funeral home.
