

Lt. Colonel, Henry "Tom" Cook (USMC Ret.), 90 passed away December 3, 2017. Tom was born January 31, 1927 in Roanoke, VA to the late Roy and Goldie Cook. Tom dedicated 25 years of his life to serving in the United States Marine Corp and served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War and received the Award of the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Meritorious Citation of Gallantry Cross with Palm for his service. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk, the NRA and Marine Corp Association. Tom attended Wesleyan University, Princeton University, Concord College and the University of Michigan.
Tom is survived by his wife, Margaret Cook, three daughters; Minta Cook, Marla Mooney (Walter) and Lori Diaz (Randy), 4 grandchildren; Amanda Burkholder, Ryan Diaz, Tyler Diaz and Lauren Diaz, three great grandchildren and one sister Phyllis Martin.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 10 AM at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Woodlawn Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
