

Chip was an avid reader, a prolific writer, and a published author. He had a lifelong love for jazz, travel, the beach, and the quiet beauty of nature. Thoughtful and independent by nature, he valued learning, reflection, and meaningful conversation.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Chip also carried a deep passion for social justice and was a committed advocate for voting rights.
Called to ministry at the age of 16, he faithfully pastored several churches throughout his life, retiring from Chapel Grove United Church of Christ in 2022.
He leaves behind his girls, Lydia Church and DaChea Crawford and son, Brandon Williams-Church(Kaleigh); his beloved grandchildren, Tiaira, Kyla, Tyson, Kameron, Mi Angel, Kyle (TeeJay), Logan, Jordan, and Marleigh, Gabriel, Leighlani, Analeigh, and Landon Ackley-Bailey; eight cherished great-grandchildren; his loving sisters, Diane(Vernon), Daphne (Richard), Denise, and Devaughn who meant so much to him; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whom he loved dearly. He now rests peacefully, reunited with his parents, Hubert Carlyle Church, Sr. and Sallie Mae Church, and his son, Kyle Church.
