Irene C. Shipp, 80, passed away June 29, 2008 at a local hospital. She is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence P. Shipp Sr. and son, Gerald W. Cornell.
Irene was a strong christian woman who loved her children and family. She had a passion for flowers and plants. Irene leaves to cherish her memory two sons, John R. Cornell and wife Beverly, and Larry L. Cornell and wife, Linda; one daughter, Janice A. Nickerson and husband, William; two brothers, Harry and William Cash; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Irene's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 3, 2008 in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2008, 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home.
