James W. Mason, Sr., passed away on January 7, 2013. He was born on March 1, 1939 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Elmer Mason and Ethel Shiflett. James entered the United States Navy in March of 1956 retiring with 23 years of service as a Senior Chief. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and puzzles and was a teller of great stories. James was a member of Fleet Reserve.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Anne Mason; daughters, Rosanna and Lynn Mason; and son James W. Mason, Jr., grandsons, Devin, Kristopher and Brayden; his aunt Viola Taylor, and other loving family and friends.
The family has requested memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 2730 Ellmere Avenue, Norfolk, VA 23513 in James’ name.
