Jane Calica Bueno, 86, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023 surrounded by her family. After several years battling Multiple Myeloma, a rare form of blood cancer, she is now free of pain and has found peace and eternal happiness in heaven through Jesus Christ her Lord and Savior.
She was born on June 27, 1937 in Dagupan City in the Philippines and raised in San Nicolas, Pangasinan to the late Rev. Roman Calica and Fortunata Abad Calica. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Dr. Roman Calica Jr, Foy Calica and Lloyd Calica. Jane received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology in April 1959 from Far Eastern University. She immigrated to the United States in June 1964 as a military spouse. Jane was employed by Southeastern Virginia Training Center as Office Supervisor and retired in June 1985. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of over 61 years, Des Bueno, their son Byron Bueno, two daughters Jane-Ann Spencer (husband Jeff Spencer) and Raz Bueno Baust, her brother Roymann Calica, four grandchildren, Ariana Spencer McCraw (husband Brad McCraw), Alexia Baust (husband Eric Shuder), Ashton Baust, Aulden Spencer, two sisters-in-law Linda Calica and Lilia Calica, and a host of nephews and nieces. Jane had a love for life, she loved God and she was a fighter. Twice she defied death when she was rushed to the hospital in January 2023 and again in March 2023. Jane enjoyed watching craft shows and spent hours of her day knitting gifts for others and growing a multitude of fruits and vegetables in her garden. She was an honored matriarch figure at Resurrection United Methodist Church where she faithfully worshipped and served for more than 20 years. Loving and generous, she was an inspiration to all those who were blessed to have known her.
