Joan Patricia Hurst

Joan Patricia Hurst, 76, of Norfolk passed away at home with her loving family by her side on Thursday, February 21, 2013. Pat was born in Portsmouth on May 7, 1936. The daughter of the late Eugene and Teresa Turner, she was a Christian and a member of Victory Worship International. Pat was well known for always thinking of others, she volunteered as a Candy Striper at DePaul Hospital for several years. Her and her late husband Rodney had a love for children, which they fostered 13 in all. She was a loving and caring Mother and Grandmother, and a dear friend to everyone she met.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Rodney Hurst, Sr. Left behind to cherish her memory is her brother Gary Turner; her daughters Susan Chapman, Theresa Bond and her husband George; her son Rodney F. Hurst Jr.; and her grandchildren Shane, Kelly, Stephen, Ruth and George III. A visitation will take place Saturday, Feb. 23, from 6-8pm at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk. A service will be held Monday, Feb. 25, at 1pm in Woodlawn Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive guests at Victory Worship International, 3520 Johns St. Norfolk, 23513 immediately following the funeral Monday. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
