John William Johnson

John William Johnson, 76, was born in Augusta, Maine on August 5, 1936 and entered into eternal rest in the loving care of his family on June 17, 2013. He is preceded in death by his parents Frederick and Ethyl Johnson, his daughter Jonnie Lee Johnson, one grandchild Michael Lee Cagle, and two brothers Charles M. and Percy J. Johnson.

In 1955, John married the love of his life, Barbara L. McCune, and from their union they have four children, Elizabeth, Ethel, Martha, and Jonnie. John served proudly in the US Navy, and retired in 1986, giving 32 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he worked inventory at Day Zimmerman. He was also a proud member of Parkway Christian Center in Chesapeake Virginia.

John is survived by his wonderful wife of 57+ years Barbara L. Johnson, Three children Elizabeth J. McDaniel, Ethel W. Middlebrooks and Martha A. Fontana; Eight grandchildren Samantha A. Fontana, Barbara F. Middlebrooks, Randy R. Middlebrooks, Tanya L. Owens, Shannon M. Nixon, John R. Middlebrooks, Gregory J. Fontana, James S. Fontana; four great grand-children Kelsey R. Besso, Miranda L. Clubb, Casey D. Cagle, Addison Middlebrooks, Zoey R. Nixon; Two sisters Bernice M. Warf, Ludie J. MacGregor; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will take place Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 10AM, with funeral services to immediately follow at 11AM at Woodlawn Funeral Home. 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. Norfolk Virginia 23502. Burial will take place Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with full military honors immediately following funeral services.
