Margaret Ann Kunst Roomsburg (Peggy), 89, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2023. Peggy was born in Washington, DC, and moved to Grafton, West Virginia, in her teens. She graduated from St. Augustine High School, went on to attend three years of nursing school in Parkersburg, WV, and became a registered nurse. Shortly after nursing school, she worked at Grafton City Hospital and then married Jim Roomsburg, a proud member of the United States Navy, whom she had known in Grafton. Several military assignments brought them to Virginia Beach where they made a permanent home and raised their family. Peggy enjoyed reading and watching sports, particularly the Washington Nationals and Redskins. She was a founding member of Church of the Ascension.
Peggy’s greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, particularly her grandchildren and great grandson who affectionately called her Mama.
Peggy was preceded in death by her son, John Franklin, her parents, Frederick and Alta Preston Kunst, her brothers, James and Robert Kunst, and sister, Mary Lou Hill.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 65 years, Jim; sons, Kevin (Margaret) and Joseph (Michelle); daughter-in-law, Tracie; grandchildren, Tyler (Melissa), Colin (Ashley), Kali, Connor, Taylor; great grandson, Parker James, and a host of other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM on November 30th, 2023, at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, December 1st, 2023, 1:00 PM, at Church of the Ascension, 4853 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach followed by a graveside service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
