 Obituario de Marjorie Law Taylor
Marjorie passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 91 years old. She was the oldest child of 5, growing up in rural North Carolina on a tobacco farm. Met her future husband, Harold, in Tokyo, Japan while working for the Civil Service during the Korean War. As an Army couple they lived in several different places, including Heidelberg, Germany but finally settled in Norfolk, where Harold retired from the Army and started a small family business. Marjorie worked as a secretary for some years for Smith Douglass Fertilizer, then went back to school and trained to become a computer programmer, and worked for Borden Chemical Co (formerly Smith-Douglass Fertilzers) until she retired. After retiring she was able to spend her time helping with the family business and with her grandchildren. They attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and later she attended Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She and Hal enjoyed and supported the opera, the symphony, dinner theatre and other arts venues, and in their younger years were avid square dancers. They spent a part of every summer at a house in Sandbridge where the entire family would typically gather, creating lasting fond memories and a tradition that endures even today. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Taylor Minguez (Norfolk); son, Bruce Taylor (Virginia Beach); step-son, Harold E Taylor, Jr. (California); former daughter-in-law, Mimi Taylor (Palm Desert, CA); grandsons, Matthew Minguez and Andrew Minguez (Norfolk), and Mason Taylor (San Diego, CA); granddaughter, Meredith Minguez (Richmond); great granddaughter, Scarlett Minguez-Posey (Portsmouth), and Ava Taylor (San Diego, CA); brothers, Charles J. Law (Raleigh, NC) and S. Edward Law (Athens, GA); sisters, Virginia Law Hart and Elizabeth Law Clemons (Tallahassee, FL); nieces and nephews, Beth Williams, Susan Clemons, Elizabeth Clemons Marshall, Josh Clemons, Amy Law Womble, Jamie Law, Jerel Law, Morgan Law, Whitney Law; and many great nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, Harold Taylor; and her step-son, Paul R. Taylor. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1pm at Christ and St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 560 W Olney Rd, Norfolk, with interment to follow within the Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6309 E Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk at 3pm. The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Salvation Army in Marjorie's honor.
