Maureen Marcou Bullard, 69, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away May 28, 2019, with her family by her side. She was born on December 5, 1949, in Torrington, Connecticut, to the late William and Eileen Marcou. Maureen graduated from Hialeah High School in 1968. She married Terry Bullard in 1970.
Maureen dedicated her life to her family and to taking care of others. She was a devoted wife and mother who always put them first before anything else. Maureen worked with nutrition services and transportation at Newtown Elementary and Bayside Elementary in Virginia Beach. Once her children were grown, she moved with Terry to Alabama to help care for her mother-in-law, the late Allie Gilbert. Later she was a CNA at Goodwater Healthcare Center where she worked diligently and cared for many patients. Maureen loved to laugh, have fun, and play games. She loved roller coasters, Patrick Swayze, puzzles, reading romance novels, sweets, crossword puzzles, watching old movies, and winning big at the casino. Above all, she treasured the summer visits from her kids and grandkids and recently moved back to Virginia to be closer to them. Even in death Maureen continued to give of herself in the ultimate way. In keeping with her loving and generous spirit, her final act was to donate life so others may live through tissue donation.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents and brother, James “Jimmy” Marcou. Left to cherish her memory are her husband, three children: Randoe and wife, Christine, Eron, and Loretta, and two grandchildren: Meagan Pollard and Laila Bullard. She is also survived by her siblings: William “Billy” Marcou and wife, Sally, Jeanne Sayles, and Eileen Pratt; and numerous loving relatives and close friends.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home.
