Mildred R. Hitt

She was born, December 19, 1929 to the late Rufus and Thelma Halstead in Hickory, VA. Mildred was a Director for the Tidewater Women’s Bowling Association and loved spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 ½ years M. Glynn Hitt, daughter; Linda J. Egan (still here to cherish Chuck) and brother; R. Marvin Halstead Jr.

Left to cherish Mildred’s memories are her grandsons; Michael G. Egan (Katie) of Centerville, VA and Donald S. Egan (Beth) of Norfolk, VA, sister; Barbara J. White of Chesapeake, VA, two nieces; Cheryl J. Hernick (Jim) of St. Charles, MI and Sherri Cooper (Aaron) of Chesapeake, VA, two great grandchildren; Rachel and Chris Egan, special great niece; Julie Bell of Chesapeake, VA, great nephews; Jacob, Timmy and Kadden, two great great nieces; Alisa and Alayna Bell, great great nephew; Austin Crook and many other loving family members and friends.

Mildred’s funeral will be held on Monday, October 3, 2016 at 2 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd, Norfolk, VA 23502. The visitation will be held on Sunday October 2, 2016 from 2-4 PM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Riverside Memorial Park, Norfolk, VA, immediately following the funeral.

The family would like to express a special thank you and acknowledge Michelle Eastep and Crystal Loper for all of the loving and exceptional care they provided to Mildred. They would also like to acknowledge Comfort Care Hospice and their compassionate staff, that were there to keep her comfortable in the end.

Mildred will be dearly missed by all.
