Morris S. Marchant

Virginia Beach- Morris Soles Marchant, 86, Died June 9, 2008 in a Virginia Beach Hospital after and short illness. He was born January 22, 1922 in Matthews County Va. He was the son of the late William Marchant and Sophia Lee Soles Marchant. He was a Navy Veteran of the second World War and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans.Morris was also a member of the 60 + club at Ocean View, a past member of the checker club and a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church He retired from the Naval Air Rework Facility after serving his country for more than 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Eva May Brown of Baltimore; four sons: William Marchant( Ann ) of San Diego Ca. Richard Marchant (Chris) of Winter Haven Florida, Thomas Marchant(Tammy) of Dallas Tx. and Dean Marchant (Tanya) of Myrtle Beach SC. And a sister Willys Marchant Rishel of Mechanicsburg Va. Additionally he is survived by many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Crematory 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. on Thursday between 6 and 8 pm. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11am at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens officiated by his pastor Dr. Prentice McGoldrick of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church.Memorial donations may be made to the Plaza Volunteer Rescue Squad.
