Nancy Elizabeth Norton

NANCY ELIZABETH WALLACE NORTON passed away April 10, 2024 at the age of 88. Born in Portland, Maine in 1935, Nancy was the daughter of the late Alonzo Kenneth Sr. and Elizabeth Gillis Wallace, and was preceded in death by her husband Lee Edward Norton, Jr., her sisters Lorraine Lundgren, Dorothy Tolliver, Bonita Edgerton, her brother Alonzo Kenneth Wallace Jr., and son-in-law David J. Patrylak. A Navy wife, Nancy was heavily involved with the Navy Relief organization sewing and crocheting baby layettes. Settling in Virginia Beach in 1971, Nancy was a member of Bayside Presbyterian Church and Pembroke Shores/Manor Civic League. She was the President of LICOMA in 1972, earned a CPS from Kee’s Business College, a member of the PSI where she held positions of Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and retired as a secretary from Tidewater Community College in the late 90’s. Nancy spent her retired years watching her family grow, researching genealogy, arts and crafts and her time with her knitting and crocheting group friends. Nancy is cherished in memory by her three children, Susan Elizabeth Owens (Craig), Dean Edward Norton, Debra Lynne Patrylak, eight grandchildren, Michael Turner, Melissa Barnhill (Cameron), George Bunch III (Ashley), Jennifer Deisch, Lindsey Norton (Madde), Brittany Norton (Ciara), Melinda Patrylak, Malleri Patrylak, 12 great grandchildren, Landon, Brayen, Benjamin, Madeline, Tabitha, Hayden, Grayson, Charlie Grace, Armonie, Maleyah, Nycolai, and Journey Faith, her dog Duke, and a host of other family members and friends. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA 23502. Visitors are welcomed to greet the family and offer their condolences at 10:00am.
