Nellie C. Saunders

Ms. Saunders was a life-long resident of the area. She was a homemaker and worked as a saleslady in several Norfolk shops.

She also served as a Volunteer at Sentara Lee Hospital, where she was credited with more than 4300 hours of service time

Ms. Saunders is survived by a nephew, Albert Gates of Bethesda, MD; nieces, Margaret Robertson of Virginia Beach and Mary Oliver of Norfolk; Patricia Videll niece of Ms. Saunders’ husband Floyd; and Norman Gates, widow of Ms. Saunders’ nephew James C. Gates.

Visitation will be at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, 818 Norview Ave., Thurs. Sept. 1 from 6-8 PM.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10 AM, Fri. Sept. 2, at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
