

Noble Allen Montgomery passed peacefully in his home on April 5, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born in Versailles, Kentucky to the late Ben and Rosa Dozier Montgomery. Monty proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Following his time in service, he continued his career by developing software for several companies concluding with Sentara. Monty met and later married the love of his life, Kitty Sue Montgomery, in Memphis, Tennessee in 1958 and they were married for over 67 years. Monty and Kitty were long time residents of Virginia Beach, Virginia. After retiring from the Navy, Monty enrolled at Old Dominion University where he graduated with honors with a Computer Science Degree. His second career lasted until 2003 when he ultimately retired. In retirement he and Kitty traveled the country in a motor home where they visited all 48 of the contiguous states. Monty was an avid reader, a fan of the Redskins, the ODU Lady Monarchs and Bill Elliott. He was a classic Do-It-Yourselfer, he worked on cars, plumbing, electrical, appliances and anything that needed fixing. Monty and Kitty were long time members of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church. He was a kind and humble man known for his inner strength, his rigid routines and strong Christian values.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kitty; son, Richard Montgomery (Jodie); son, Robert Montgomery(Kathy); daughter, Denise Gundlach (Scott); grandchildren, Brittany Malloy (Brandon), Meagan Yauilla (Brad), Dustin Montgomery, Scott Gundlach (Kat), Whitney Hamaker (Matthew), Danyelle Williams (Gates), Madeline Montgomery, Emily Montgomery, Benjamin Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Braya, Bryson, Grady, Lily, Annalise, Iris, Rayleigh, Colt, Freya, Jackson and Joseph; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister Phyllis Tate and her husband James.
The family invites you to a time of visitation on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. He will be honored with a funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard Salazar officiating. He will be laid to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens following the funeral.
