Richard affectionately known as Rick and Poppie was a very caring and loving man. He had many interests and hobbies, among his favorites were using his mechanic skills in the garages or in the racing pits at Langley Speedway with his brothers, Bubba and Bob and the crew of family members that were always there. He also enjoyed using them to help anyone with an automotive issue. He was an avid nature observer and would photograph and free hand sketch wildlife, plants and animals. He loved history and was an aspiring engineer, he enjoyed sketching schematics of cars and wiring, and drafting items for wood or metal work. He was an avid researcher of anything of interest to him or a loved one. When not with family and friends Rick would be “piddling” with something at home and has shared many of his creations with friends and family.
Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and loved ones.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his children, Daniel Shreeves and Wendy Hardin (Tony); 5 grandchildren, Shayde Shreeves, Britnie Stevenson, Bruce Hardin III, Bryan Hardin, and Abigayle Hardin; 3 great-grandchildren; and his brothers William "Bubba" Shreeves (Deborah) and Robert "Bob" Shreeves; his beloved companion Carolyn Parker; and a host of loving nieces and nephews and other family and friends.
